 J.Cole's original version of Crooked Smile was created for people to embrace their flaws an imperfections. My version was created with the same intentions but for Darker Skinned females to embrace their Black Beauty. I wrote this verse to acknowledge the beauty of Darker Skinned females, not with the intentions of creating a Dark Skin vs Light Skin debate. I believe beauty comes in all complexions, races, sizes etc. I just wanted to step away from what mainstream media portrays as the "right look". It's not a race thing, it's not a black and white thing or light vs dark thing. Music is a universal language an sometimes we as artist have to use our platforms to create togetherness or at least create the dialouge. But I'm not trying to get too preachy preachy lol.
